Our latest call from Patricia, 2/11/05
Patricia is our coordinator at LSSS, she will be responsible for updating us on any referral information and our travel dates.
She calls us every Friday since our Dossier has been submitted to let us know any news or answer any questions we many have.
Today she did not have any new news but called to reassure us that our prefile dossier was in Yaroslav. It takes about 6 weeks to translate the whole dossier from English to Russian. She felt that once this was completed that we should receive our referral of a child, known as just a referral. There are two other families also in this region waiting but we don't know what gender or age they are waiting for. I didn't ask.
Patricia was very hopeful that we would make our first trip by May. Which would be perfect as my mom and I are going to Italy May 2-12. She said we could schedule our court date after my return. We hope this can be accomplished by the end of May as that is when their accreditation expires.
The accreditation is important to a Russian adoption. There are many agencies right now that have expired accreditations and only a few higher tier agencies can continue to operate at this time. Russia is going through a reorg of the international adoption process. Patricia tells us that there are hiccups in the system about every 5 years and changes are made and it will return to normal with in a couple of months. We are one of the lucky few right now that can proceed so we feel very fortunate. God has once again given us the green light.
